International Hermit and Stitch Weekend

Well I've had a really successful International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW)!

I managed to finish TT Violet Sometimes!

I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I feel a little guilty calling this my first HAED finish as it's a small chart so feels like I'm cheating.  Thank you to everyone that has provided such supportive and helpful comments along the way, it's very much appreciated!

I also managed to put a few stitches into Henry VIII but not enough to really notice any progress.  This will be my next focus piece as it's so close to a finish it makes sense to push on and get that last bit done.

I also have to tell you how lovely people in the cross stitch community are!  In the past month I've been lucky enough to be gifted 2 HAED charts, Mini Memory (Nene Thomas) from Sam and QS Snap Dragon Fairy (Jasmine Becket-Griffith) from Liz.  I really cannot express how much this kindness is appreciated and I cannot thank you enough.

Just as a final note, one of the HAED artists, Fred Winkler is being retired at the end of June.  He's an amazing digital artist and I love his works, thanks to Michele for the "head's up" so that we have a chance to snatch up his charts before they are no longer available and if you are quick, there is a 50% off sale just to help you a little.  Although I have enough charts to last me a few years, I'm still going to purchase a few of Fred's as they are lovely.  These are a few of the ones I like, it may prove to be expensive!

  2. Congratulations on such a lovely finish! =)
My first Haed-finish was a storykeep and I am really happy about it. I know that it is not comparable to the BAPs others finish, but for me it was a really big step. I know that it will take a few more years to complete my first big project, so I don't think it's cheating to call a smaller design one's first Haed finish =)
When you finish your first BAP, you can still say "it's my first finished monster-Haed" ;-D So you can be happy twice!

I love the charts you bought. I am currently resisting the sale (yay, one more day to go!) but I am also eying a few of Fred Winklers charts ;-) His season designs are wonderful =)
So I am especially looking forwad to see your work Winter =)

I didn't think I was much of a fan of Fred Winkler, but a couple of those are really lovely!
And that is a gorgeous finish by the way, and don't feel guilty about a small one being your first finish, my first will be a QS, small gives us the impetous to keep going!

    1. I know, 50% sales are deadly! I didn't think I was that much of a Winkler fan but when I went to have a look at his work just to see I found there were a lot I was very fond of. It also doesn't help that very time I visit the HAED website I see more charts I need to have! I do have a very understanding OH who gives me a little freedom and doesn't moan at me too much!

  9. Congrats on the beautiful finish. Of course it counts, especially since the smaller pieces have alot more confetti to achieve the detail. I love this chart I have the full version but that won't see the light of day for a few years yet LOL!!! Love your choices of Fred Winkler, I think he is an amazing artist too. Winter is my fav out of all your choices. Good luck with the sale. xo
